On Tuesday Dissidia Duodecim Prologus landed on the PSN for the PSP. It is a very brief preview of the prequel/sequel to Final Fantasy Dissdia. And what a nice little taste it was.
It gives you a brief story mode involving Lightning, complete with cut-scenes and a rather corny story, so all the norm for Dissidia. The story gives a nice introduction to a few new characters, as well as to some of the characters’ new roles; and I’ll try not to spoil this if you haven’t been paying too much attention.
But the real meat of Prologus is in the Arcade mode it includes. Arcade mode gives you access to about 7 different characters, including both Lightning and Kain, in the Arcade battle with either a 5-battle chain mode or a 30-battle chain mode. Completing the 30 battle chain mode will give you achievements you can import into your save for Duodecim on Tuesday. This gives you a chance to see the new mechanics, some of the new abilities, the new smoother combat, the faster paced chases, a few new characters, and the Assist system. And trust me, the smoother combat and new mechanics make a big difference, and make the game overall a lot more fluid and fun – so far.
A nice little teaser for 3 bucks. Oh, and did I mention the best part?
Included with that 3 dollar purchase is an unlock for Aerith as an Assist character in Dissidia Duodecim.
