As promised, today we spotlight another of 2012’s most interesting looking releases. This one is a PS3 exclusive that, earlier this year, got our pick for ‘Best of Show’ from this year’s E3.
That’s right, today we’re talking Starhawk. Starhawk is an upcoming third person shooter which combines high paced shooting action with real time strategy elements such as resource acquisition and structure placement. Yes, that’s right – structure placement. You get to deploy structures for your team – anything from walls to turrets to bunkers – wherever you want them to get a strategic edge – within your claimed territory of course. In addition, the game also features all sorts of vehicle combat from jets to mechs to jeeps… and even jetpacks for aerial combat.
Below are a couple of videos showing the fast paced, eccentric gameplay:

The game quite literally has everything. And from the sounds of it, the closed beta is going fantastically well and everyone is having a ton of fun despite the game still being not quite finished. Everything about this game just screams fun, and I can’t wait to give it a try – the more open beta phase will be started next year and the game comes out in July. Lightbox, if you’re listening, thank you for making this fantastic looking third person title – I can’t wait for it.
