Most Anticipated of 2014: Tales of…

The Tales of series has two new titles coming next year. A remastering of Tales of Symphonia and its sequel are being released in February and the sequel to Tales of Xillia, which I reviewed recently, is also coming out. I’ve recently become a fan of this series, after playing Graces f I’m glad to see two titles coming out in the next year on this side of the pond.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles

Tales of Symphonia is an entry in the Tales series that I was unfortunate enough to miss. And I’m sure some of you longtime fans out there are crying blasphemy… but next year I will get the chance to fix this blasphemy when Tales of Symphonia Chronicles launches in North America.

This entry in the series has been very well received and I’m looking forward to being able to share my opinion on it’s remastered version as a first time player.

I’ve been enjoying the unique combat system in the more recent Tales games, and I can’t wait to get a glimpse into the origins with Symphonia. I’m also really curious to see if the story bears as strong a resemblance to the more recent Tales games as they did to each other.

Tales of Xillia 2

But moving on to the main attraction, Tales of Xillia 2 is also going to be releasing next year. After loving the first game, I was very excited to hear that the sequel would be making it’s way to our side of the world so quickly.

Given the way Xillia ended, there are numerous possibilities for where the story could go, and it sounds like they’re taking a very unexpected direction. Information I’ve seen has pointed to the story revolving around a character who is tasked with destroying timelines to preserve the world – a concept that could create something utterly fascinating or could backfire completely resulting in a game that is absolutely terrible.

I’m confident that it will be memorable either way, and I’m really excited to see if they can execute the concept well enough to ensure that it is as worthy of praise as the first game was.

Next Week, in honour of Blizzcon, we’ll be covering the most anticipated Blizzard releases of 2014, so keep an eye out for that next Tuesday, and this coming Friday I will be talking about my six favourite games of the past generation.
