The Blade’s Edge – July Update

July has arrived, and we’re fast approaching one of my favourite times of the year… Can you guess what it is?

That’s right… we’re almost at Ai-Kon. It’s happening July 11-13 and is my favourite event of the year, and I am eagerly looking forward to it. Previous years have netted a wealth of pictures and an incredibly good time, and I don’t see this year being any different. They consistently improve every year and I hope this year continues that trend, and I’ll be posting my thoughts – and my galleries – on the event after it’s over as always.

I’m currently in the process of writing reviews for several anime, so you can expect that to be the bulk of my content this month. I’ve finished watching Nisekoi, No Game No Life, The World is Still Beautiful, Nanana’s Buried Treasure, and Blue Drop recently. Black Bullet, Irregular at Magic High, and Kanojo ga Flag wo Oreratara (If Her Flag Breaks) are also finishing in the next 1-2 weeks. I’d ideally like to get reviews for all of them posted this month. That’s a lot of work, so with Ai-Kon and my normal content, I can’t promise they’ll all be out in a timely manner, but that’s the goal for the month. I’m also going to be doing a preview post of the summer season once Crunchyroll announces their full lineup. Here’s a teaser – Sword Art Online’s second season is starting next weekend.

Fortunately, there’s nothing coming out this month that I care about on the gaming front. There are a few games I wanted to get to over the past month that various factors prevented me from doing, so I’m hoping to get to Watch Dogs and Murdered: Soul Suspect at some point during the month. I’m also still working on Drakengard 3 so I’d like to finish that. Additionally, after finishing Conception 2 earlier this month I started playing Demon Gaze during my commutes – it’s not really my style of game, but I’m planning to push through it and we’ll see if I get it done this month. With time at Ai-Kon, it might just happen. Finally, I recently started Valiant Hearts and am planning to finish that fairly soon as well so there should be at least some gaming content this month.

I don’t know if there’s going to be much other content besides the above, but I’m always looking for AMVs to spotlight, and if some of the Ai-Kon’s AMV contest are available after the fact I may spotlight them.

This is likely to be a very busy, but very good month. Hopefully I can keep up with the content I plan to, but we’re in for a good time this month!
