Weekly Recommendations – Summer 2014 Releases

This summer saw a few good games and a lot of good anime… so I’d like to share with you a few recommendations from this past summer if you missed them or just want to relive some of the glory of the 2014 summer.

Akame ga Kill (Anime)

I haven’t quite finished my review of Akame ga Kill, but it deserves mention as it is a great show – if you can handle a bit of gore. Night Raid, the show’s main characters, are a group of assassins set to overthrow a tyrannical empire. I’m not going to spoil the specifics of my review – so all I’ll say is that it’s a very well executed anime that does a lot of things very right. If you like assassins (and who doesn’t?) and want something a little less happy than most of the anime I’ve reviewed… this might be a good choice for you.

Tales of Xillia 2 (Game)

There weren’t many games I even played that came out this summer… but, by far, the best one was Tales of Xillia 2. A fantastic JRPG with a few minor flaws and a ton of replayability. I’m looking forward to finishing up the other games I’m playing so I can get back to spending some more time playing it. It’s incredibly fun, and the characters are so well done… just overall a great choice.

HaNaYaMaTa (Anime)

I’m sure most of you guys expected this one… I loved HaNaYaMaTa, It is probably the best slice of life show I’ve ever watched, and it’s one of my favourite anime overall. It really is that good – aside from the fact that it is unlikely to be continuing at all, there’s nothing to complain about here. Whether you’ve watched it or not, go do so now. It warrants at least a second watch through!

Alright, those are my recommendations. I hope at least one of them helps you guys pass the time this week. Have a good week!
