Weekly Recommendations – Cutes!

So last week there was another game that came out aside from Dragon Age… and this week I’d like to dedicate my recommendations to its most notable quality: how incredibly adorable the characters are. I am, of course, talking about Little Big Planet 3’s Sack Family. The recommendations here will all focus on titles with moments or characters that will make you go ‘awwww…..’ over and over again.

Sword Art Online (Anime)

While the show itself isn’t all that full of adorable characters, it does have quite possibly the most adorable character ever… Yui. In all of her different forms, Yui is simply and utterly far too cute for words. If you don’t believe me, watch the second ending for SAO 2, which features Yui as a little sprite riding Pina, a small dragon – who is also adorable. This combination is so adorable it almost broke me and my wife. Trust me… you won’t find a cuter moment in any show anywhere else.

Tales of Xillia 2 (Game)

I could’ve gone the easy route and recommended Little Big Planet, but with 3 being the inspiration for this… I figured I’d go a different route. Earlier this year, a fantastic JRPG came out called Tales of Xillia 2. It was a great deal of fun, but what makes it fit here are two characters: Elise and Elle. Two adorable little girls who make sure you are always chuckling… but mostly Elle. As your constant companion throughout the game, she provides you with advice and encouragement during battle, and it a huge part of why I have so many fond memories of that game. And during the segment where you’re forced to be separated from her… oh man do you feel her loss. It’s like a little bit of the joy has left the world while you’re playing – she’s such a constant presence that when she’s gone everything is different.

HaNaYaMaTa (Anime)

While Yui and Elle may be the ultimate in adorable individual characters…. if you’re looking for an entire cast of adorable characters, look no further than HaNaYaMaTa. I’ve gushed about this show in general a lot, so I won’t say much here… but the characters are incredibly cute and also very well developed, and they dance… and the dance is cute too. So, ya, go watch.

  • Why are you only recommending Hanayamata now? That should have been done months ago! It is definitely a series everyone should watch at least once.

  • It’s true… but the topics I’ve come up with simply haven’t fit it! Now that they do, I put it in ;)
