Blade’s Edge Update – February

We’re 1 month in and I’m still alive! 2016 is off to a great start! Of course, our next challenge is the frozen hell known as ‘February’. For those of you out there in Winterpeg, you’ll understand what I mean. For those of you who aren’t in Winnipeg… well, here’s a small taste of what this month means to us…

Winter

Fortunately, this year has been rather tame comparably. January featured about a week of real cold, which left me in a great mood for both streaming and writing. We’re nearing completion of the Fall anime reviews, with 5 of them completed already and 1 or 2 more to go, depending on whether I can be bothered to finish the last show. I also finished Disgaea 5 and got my glowing review of that up. The other big thing that’s been going on is Trails Month, which is going to turn into a 2 or 3 month affair, I expect… I have nearly completed Trails of Cold Steel, but there are still two more Trails games to go after we finish this one!

Which leads me rather nicely into my plans for the upcoming month. First, I plan to finish off, and review, Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. I expect that to be no more than another week, but this game has outlasted my expectations at every curve, so I can’t promise. Once I finish Trails of Cold Steel, Trails in the Sky is the next stream goal, leading towards Trails in the Sky Second Chapter which is the last game of 2015 I’ll need to review before I can do my ‘Best of 2015’ Shadow’s Six post. Hopefully we can find some time to do some long stream sessions of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky to get at least into Second Chapter as soon as possible. And as a final stream note, my next Saturday Selubration will be on February 13th, and you can vote here to pick the games.

Additionally, there are a few games coming out this month that I have interest in, even a couple that have already come out this week. Both Megadimension Neptunia V-II and Gravity Rush Remastered dropped this week. I liked the Vita version of Gravity Rush, so revisiting it on the PS4 seems like a great idea, and I’ve heard good things about the newer Neptunia games. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth could have potential, but we’ll have to see if I can find time for it all among everything else.

People keep recommending I try Valkyria Chronicles, so with the PS4 remaster of it coming out, this might be a good opportunity. But most notably, for me anyways, is Unravel. Unravel stole my heart at E3 last year, and it is coming on February 9th. I will be making time to give that game a try as soon as I can. Last, but certainly not least, the digital TCG Hex: Shards of Fate has officially left beta, and as such I will be offering my impressions of it in the coming weeks.

Unravel

Moving to the anime front… I will be finishing the last of my Fall anime reviews over the next week, after which time we’ll be wrapping up the Summer and Fall seasons with my semiannual Shadow’s Six post. The next review will be for Comet Lucifer, which should be in the next couple days. I’ll let you guys know whether I end up deciding to do another anime this season or just call it there. Also, I’d like to continue the season preview posts like I did for the Fall 2015 season a few months back.

The final things to mention for this month are pretty simple. First of all, we’ve been starting to, after some really complicated months, get the C4 pictures processed. There are around 20 of them ready to go in the gallery. Sorry for the delay, but we’ll try to get them all done soon! Why? Because Winterfest is coming up soon! I’ll be there on February 27th, and I’ll have my post-show up hopefully Sunday, with the galleries to follow as I can.

With all this awesome stuff, hopefully February will be more fun than freezing, and I hope to see you all at my Selubration!
