The Blade’s Edge – May 2016 Update

March Warmth brings April Snow which brings…. May gaming? Ya, I think that’s how the saying goes. At least this year.

Coming out of April, I only have one more of the anime reviews sure to come. We’ve already finished Konosuba, Aokana, BBK/BRNK, and Erased, with Myriad Colours Phantom World to follow in the next few days. There’re two other shows I’m considering finishing and reviewing, but we’ll see if I find time.

I also reviewed Nights of Azure earlier this month (hint, it was fantastic), and posted my second and third installments of the Shadow’s Sixty. Last, but not least, I was finally able to close out 2015 by rounding up the best games of the year and sharing them with you. Now that that’s all done with, what’s left for May?

Games. Lots of games.

The last few weeks have seen a rush of amazing smaller games that I’ve been trying to squeeze in time for. We have two top-down shooters, an adventure game, and a stealth game all coming out in a few-week period. Now, with these all being shorter games, why aren’t they all finished? Well, that’s a good question… but the answer is obviously: Ratchet and Clank. Zurkon has been holding a gun to my head and insisting that I play Ratchet and Clank to completion, which I’ve done on stream… so after my anime reviews, that’s next to review.

Once I’m done Ratchet and Clank’s review, I plan to start reviewing Stories, Alienation, Enter the Gungeon, and – if I have time to play them – Invisible, Inc and Shadow Complex: Remastered. I may also do a brief writeup about the Grand Kingdom Beta which I am hoping to find time to squeeze in as well. That being said, there is one of the ‘high priority’ games coming out next week, and once it comes out I’ll be dropping everything else. I am, of course, referring to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. If I somehow manage to finish that in a reasonable time, we’ll revisit the above games. If I happen to, by some miracle, finish my coverage of all of them and still have time to spare this month… then I might take a cursory look at Valkyria Chronicles Remastered. But, ya know… we’ll have to see. There is actually at least 1 game coming out per week that I’m interested in from late May to early August… time is going to be at a premium.

Which leads nicely into my next point. Between the Shadow’s Sixty (which should have another entry in a week or so), finishing up Winter’s anime reviews, starting the Spring content I’d like to do, and all of the gaming content I have coming up… I need to free up my schedule a bit. As a result, I’m going to be suspending my monthly recommendations for at least a month or two so I can have the time I need for everything else.

Hope you guys are as excited for (and terrified of) this month as I am! Let’s get things started!
