Conception 2: Children of the Seven Stars – Without Limits

It’s good to see some more Japanese Vita games being localized… there are plenty of games that have come out for it in Japan that have never crossed the pond, so to speak. Atlus has brought another of their JRPGs over to North America, Conception 2: Children of the Seven Stars. Yes I know, the name doesn’t really send the best message.

The game takes place in a world where the darkness in human hearts has begun spawning labyrinths from which monsters are pouring and threatening people everywhere. These monsters seem to be invulnerable until the Church of the Star God steps in, utilizing energy provided by the Star God to fight off the monsters. The Star God chooses young men and women between the ages of 16 and 19 who are able to wield this energy and marks them with a special brand to identify them. The labyrinths suppress this energy, so until now they’ve been unable to do anything except desperately try to stop the monsters that come out. That is, until you arrive… the main character of this game is referred to by the title ‘God’s Gift’ and he has the unique ability to allow those who around him to use their abilities within the labyrinths. Ys: Memories of Celceta – Unforgettable

Ys, where have you been all my life?

I’ve heard murmers here and there of the Ys series, but never enough to make me go out of my way to look for it. What a pity. Ys: Memories of Celceta is a Japanese Action RPG that centres on the Great Forest of Celceta, a mysterious and uncharted forest that rumours state nobody who enters will ever return. It takes place in the middle of the Ys series, as it is a remake of the fourth installment out of 7.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds: To the Past!

Nintendo recently released their sequel to A Link to the Past, my personal favourite of all time, entitled A Link Between Worlds. This 3DS title takes place in the same world as Link to the Past did over a decade ago, and plays heavy on nostalgia to bring people in… but is the game more than just a nostalgia trip?

Pokemon X – Social Trivialities

I was a fan of Pokémon as a child, back during the original Pokémon era… I watched the original show and played Blue back in the day. I lost interest when the show started having Pokémon talent shows and other utterly ridiculous concepts… but I’ve always hoped for a game that allowed me to truly get that Pokémon battle experience. It’s one of those childhood fantasies that just won’t go away – right there with the old 90’s movie style VR. It’s unlikely to ever become a reality, but Pokémon X is trying to take us one step closer to it.
