The anticipation is building… we’re on the second last entry of the Shadow’s Sixty! This time we’ll cover rank 12 through 7. With this list we are finally entering into the true best games I’ve ever played. What genres will we see here? What games? Will your favourite make the cut for this list? If you’ve been following along, will your guesses match the reality?
These are all games that have left a lasting impression on me… some new, some not so new. Some of these games shaped my love of gaming, others made me lifetime fans of certain worlds. These games set the bar by which all others are judged, and it is my pleasure to give you your first glimpse into the top 10 today. I know some of you have been (im)patiently waiting for this day, so I won’t make you wait any longer.
We’ve come a long way in our pursuit of gaming’s greatest moments. We’ve counted down 36 games, explored a wide variety of worlds, visited series both old and new. We’ve battled, we’ve raced, we’ve climbed, and we’ve created items great and small… but we’ve still got more than 1/3 of the list ahead of us. Pretty crazy to think about, eh?
Our fourth to last list is next, featuring games 24 through 19. In this list, we’ve got genres ranging from RPG to Turn Based Strategy… and we feature two of the most well known games of the modern era. Shall we get to it? I think so.
As E3 begins to wind down, it is time to take a moment to think about the best and worst moments of this year’s gaming media bonanza. Obviously, I’m not there in person, so coverage is based off of a combination of live streams, articles, and videos from other sources.
So I wanted to take some time here today to talk about some of what I saw following coverage of E3. We’re going to talk surprises, the best and worst, and where the companies hit their highs and lows. I also wanted to touch base about the Sony E3 Experience as this was its first year visiting Winnipeg.
So we’ve talked about the best games of 2014 and we’re halfway through our discussion of the best anime of the year, having done the best of Winter and Spring, so I figured this was a great time to change the pace a bit… time to discuss the opposite end of the spectrum. What were the biggest letdowns of the year… those games, anime, or even scenes that were so disappointing it was hard to bear?
We’re entering December… which means it’s time to count down the best games of 2014. This will cover anything from November of last year to the end of October of this year. That means that this will be the first of these lists to include the Playstation 4! Will any of its best make the cut?
There have been a lot of very hyped and very eagerly anticipated releases. And this has been an incredibly difficult year to evaluate. So many extremely fun experiences. But I won’t make you wait any longer… it’s time to unveil my top 6 games of 2014.
